Floodex2021 is not Going to See Mayor’s Presence in It

(November 3, 2021): Recently, on behalf of Floodex 2021, invitations were sent to different eminent people. An invitation was extended to the Mayor’s office to attend the event or send a representative to speak. However, due unavoidable circumstances, the invitation has been declined. Also, another invitation was sent to Hina Bokhari, the Liberal Democrat of the London Assembly which was accepted.

Hina Bokhari is presenting at Floodex 2021, which is co-located with the National Drainage Show. She is Deputy Chair of the Economy Committee, Member of the Environment Committee and the Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee, who has asked the Mayor’s office questions about sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS).

Given that 70% of flood incidents are caused by surface water runoff, the role an efficient drainage and sewer infrastructure is critical, so it makes sense to have both events, working towards a more holistic approach. The National Drainage Show is supported by the National Association of Drainage Contractors, which is showcasing two very important initiatives at the show; Floodex is sponsored by Schneider Electric

There are three theatres at the show and one is a dedicated SuDS Theatre, with the first day being taken over by CIRIA as a susdrain Day, covering many of the key aspects of SuDS with a list of eminent speakers, who are considered experts in their field.

The exhibition will have over 70 exhibiting companies, covering a wider range of products and services, whilst the free to attend, CPD accredited seminar programme has a first class line-up of speakers, many of whom you would often pay to hear in a conference.

Major Line-up of Expert Speakers

The speakers include key professionals from the Environment Agency, Association of SuDS Authorities, JBA Consulting, Schneider Electric, Thames Water, CIRIA, susdrain, Zero Pollution Network and Mary Donhau OBE (Flood Mary), amongst many others.

Event Director, Jon Irwin, said “we are delighted with the show and despite everything we have had to endure with Covid, this should be our best event yet, having moved it from Peterborough Arena to Excel London.”

He went on to say, “we have every type of exhibitor on hand to offer products, services and advice from manufacturers through contractors to consultants and a free seminar programme that most would pay good money to attend.”

Who Should Bother Visiting?

Anyone remotely interested in finding out more about how they can prevent andmitigate against flooding should attend it. Whether you are a developer, planner, building contractor, estate manager, or landowner, business owner with any responsibility for land and property should come here. It goes without saying that this event is an invaluable information gathering opportunity for anyone working in flood and drainage engineering and management.

Entry is free by registering at www.floodex.co.uk and www.drainageshow.com where you will find full contact details a list of exhibitors and presenters. Your presence is cordially expected.

NOTES TO EDITORS

THE EVENT

FLOODEX is the trade exhibition and free conference for flood defence and the water level management (WLM) sector looking at flood defence, prevention, mitigation and drainage.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with the National Association of Drainage Contractors for the colocated NATIONAL DRAINAGE SHOW.

Recognizing that sometimes floods just cannot be fully constrained, it has to be acknowledged that a wider, integrated approach is needed and a shift from flood control to water management which is set up to deal with higher volumes of water that results in flooding with today's infrastructure.

Whilst the profile includes flood defence systems and prevention, consideration is needed to ensure the right investments are made in systems which can cope with the increasing range of water flows, as well as flood mitigation installations for those situations when water flow volumes exceed capacity. This event aims to showcase solutions and services integral to efficient flood defence and water level management, now and for the future.

The National Drainage Show is a co-located event with Floodex, because there is such a large crossover of interest, as there is around 70% of flooding is caused by surface water runoff, so efficient drainage and sewer systems are critical.

The NADC is the UK’s leading association representing the interests of sewage and drainage operatives, it provides qualifications, guidance and support for its members. The NADC is made up entirely of people actively working in the industry.

The Association provides a recognised voice for the membership so they can a have a say in the future of the industry. It also promotes training, certification and standards, along with commentary, guidance and advice on regulatory developments to its members.

The show is organized by Indigo Media & Events, who’s two key personnel have over 40 years’ experience in launching and running major events, both in the UK and internationally.
